Jorge Molina pt.1

The first hundred heads for Jorge Molina. Learned a lot from doing this. It's pretty relaxing. It seemed as if no matter what kind of crazy rule you broke during the drawing it still came out as....something. Long story short I loved emulating this guy's style. for the next 100 heads I'm going to start putting some hair on these bad boys. I think I got the head shapes down pretty decently. I also have a few days to kill so I may even get to do an actual drawing rather than these heads. Who knows? Also the internet has been down in my dorm for the second half of the week so I couldn't upload on Friday. Soooo technically I didn't lie about uploading twice in the same week. So yeah I'll see you all on Friday with the second half of heads!

Jim Lee Heads part 2

So I definitely missed the posting that was supposed to happen last week so I'll post twice this week. I'm aiming for 100 heads by Friday and maybe finishing up by Monday. I really need to pick up the pace. Anyways this is the second half of the Jim lee heads 100- 200. This time I was working on women. The interest didn't last as long this time around because truth be told after I got the hang of the men the women were just added eyelashes...at least that's what Jim said about his own drawing. Not much to be said about this go around. I got bored about half way through it.

This time I'm going to do Jorge Molina. He is a comic artist still but has a lot more of a character designy feel. My real hope is that I won't get bored this time around because of the varied shapes in Molina's style. That's it I guess. See yah on Friday!

First 100 Heads Jim lee Style (Men)

This is the first hundred comic style heads. Of course I went with the main man himself Jim Lee. I figured this would be a good place to start because its a popular appeal and its one that peaked my interest in comics. A few pages in I was overwhelmed  with the style and had to start from scratch. I was doing too much. Trying to get his hair and rendering style all in one go. This was a bad idea. I had to bring it back to the basics. I had to get the shape of the face and features to really nail his style. His eyes gave me the most trouble. After I got those down everything else seemed to fall into place.

I'm under the belief that if you can figure out the shapes of the features of the full frontal view then you will have an easier time turning them in space. Now that I have the basics of his men down I've moved on to his women for the next hundred. It is much easier now that I know the shapes that he uses for his men. Jim's women use the exact same shapes as his men. The eyes are just bigger and rounder. His hair will be what gives me the most trouble now. This exercise will give me some much needed practice in drawing hair. I'll see you all next week with the next 100!
